Pole update

Here is the latest of me on the pole. Now please bear in mind that this is a "freestyle" dance, meaning I was making it up as I went along, it is not a choreographed routine. Let me know what you think!

By the way, sorry about the lighting and the quality, hope you can all see it ok!

Christmas has come and gone

Well trying to fit my whole Christmas day into one blog post might take a while, so here are the highlights:

  • Did very well in the present stakes, including many books, some DVDs I'd been after, a specky bag, and a gift voucher for a beauty salon. (And I'm going to kill my mum for spending so much on it!!)
  • Went to my aunt's place at Paxton where the rest of the tribe had congregated. We had a Brazilian, Shaz and Rob who have just moved back from England, Rob's brother David and his wife Daisy who live in Hong Kong, Rob's mate Garry had also come out from England, and Rob and David's mother Iris is from Wales. So we had a very multicultural Christmas.
  • Spent most of the day with my little "neice" Breanna.
  • Was tossed in the pool. Fully clothed. Also joining me was Den & Bunk (cousins), Jade (brother), Garry, Liv, and they even got my mum in.
  • Gave myself a really nice bruise on my knee which has now turned a lovely shade of purple, yellow, and green.
  • Liv and I actually sang "the leopard" song so much that Breanna can now sing it, and she's never even heard it!
  • The boys were teaching us how to crack a whip, and I really suck at it. Jade did better, but he also managed to give himself two welts on his back!
Had a very nice Christmas, hope you all did as well!

Things we need more of

  • Bubbles/bubble blowers (and an oxygen tank with mask for Leeanne so she doesn't pass out from hyperventilating like the Fluffy Bunny evening)
  • Mangoes
  • Glitter in any form
  • Chocolate (I never said they had to be good for you!)
  • Things with feathers on them
  • Crystals
  • Trees and flowers and shrubs (and grubs! Sorry, just threw that in coz it rhymed!)
  • Cherries
  • Chou cream and senbei (Shann's fave Japanese delicasies)
  • Flattering swim suits and jeans
  • Reality-challenged people such as myself
  • People who read for pleasure (ie not just the morning newspaper)
  • Friendliness and understanding (or even just common courtesy) towards our fellow earth-bound citizens (whether, furry, scaly, biped, feathery or slimy)
  • Pink or purple things (especially crystals and feathers- see above)
  • Bloggers (join the madness, come over to the dark side!)
  • Big squishy doonas (yes, this is an obsession of mine)
  • Confidence and belief in ourselves

Mishaps and mismatches

No pole dancing Christmas party, which was a bit of a bummer. Oh well, so glad I have my own pole to practice on, which I really should get to. Things get so crazy this time of year. We all get so tied up in things, but we never really enjoy it. Is Christmas really worth all this stress?

Did the grocery shopping today, and the check-out chick was quite amused at the way I sorted items as I took them from the trolley so they could be packed in the right bags. I'm not incredibly anal about it, I just find it easier when I get home to unpack if all the cold stuff is in one bag, all the stuff for the pantry in another, and so on.

That's all from me really, just the usual pre-Christmas rushing around.

Love you all

Business of the day

Well Shann has been a busy little bee (sorry Deb!). Had parties all weekend (ie, I coached, not attended!), and most of them were even well behaved (and that NEVER happens!). But at time and a quarter on Saturday and time and a half on Sunday, I'm not complaining! I also have schools followed by afternoon classes on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. So paycheck will be very shmick and will help smooth over the horror of the large chunk of my bank balance that went AWOL in mid-December.

Christmas party for the pole dancing class will be on Wednesday. Drinks and nibblies, followed by a bit of a play on the poles. Yes, I will be taking the camera, and assorted drunken behaviour and fallings off pole will be documented and reported!

Just want to take this opportunity to give a shout out to my mother. I know she will never read this (being technologically challenged), but she is one of the strongest women I know. And she is responsible for the person I am becoming, and for that I want to thank her.

Took the exchange student dancing (latin) on Friday night, to see if she could learn how to samba. Imagine, a Brazilian who can't samba, and can't wax. I think we got a defective exchange student! Anyway, we all had a blast, and Liv picked up a few moves- I thought she looked great!

Anyways, I should get back to work. Got a few things to do. Love you all!

Howdy doody, and I'm back again!

Ok then, filling in the last few days. Birthday was a blast, went to HV Gardens and got to hit lots of golf balls. Whoda thunk that hitting golf balls would make you so sore! Also had a look around the shops and had a stop at the zoo on the way home. Gee, sounds just like I'm a little kid again. Must be regressing!

A big thank you for everyone who sent/posted birthday comments, I love you all!

Managed to get my pole up. Took a little bit of rearranging. I was planning on putting it upstairs in the loungeroom, but that would mean I'd have to put it up and down everytime I wanted to use it. (And please keep the cheeky comments to yourselves!). So I decided I would put it downstairs where I could leave it up, and then just take it down if I needed to. So the pole is now up, and it's absolutely wonderful! I've already had a bit of a play on it. I'm teaching the exchangfe student, and mum has already had a bit of a swing on it. I think it's a great pole, not just coz it's a pole but it's really grippy which is good for me because I prefer grippy poles. It just can be a bit of a pain (literally!) when it's grippy on my legs and I'm trying to slide! I'm also a bit paranoid about going upside down because our ceiling is a bit lower than the one at the studio, so i have to be careful that I don't hit my feet on the ceiling. I haven't yet, so I'm not really sure if I can, or if I'm just being careful (and I have no idea what I just meant!)

(Well it is now Friday, but shall continue post anyway!)

Learnt/perfected 3 moves at pole class last night, am very proud and have the bruises to show for it!

Am not happy at the moment as "operation pole" is being sabotaged. But will carry on the battle and will prevail!

As I think I am the only Mary not to have posted pics of the Festivus bush, here are a few of mine. (Don't worry, we have a proper tree too!)

I am really hanging out for this Macbook so I can blog anytime I want, and I don't have to fight Livia and Jade for internet time!

Anyway, love to you all, and rest assured that if I don't blog for a while that I'm not dead, I'm just on the losing end of the battle for internet time!

New moves

I have just come home from pole dancing, and just wanted to share with everyone that I have learnt some new moves. One of them has been giving me the sh!ts lately because I was having a bit of trouble with it. It's called the Venus (I think I mentioned this one before). Basically you are hanging upside down with one leg crossed over the other. I finally managed to do (what I consider to be) an acceptable Venus. The other one you would think would be harder, but I find it easier than the Venus. It's called the Mistress, and basically you are hanging upside down by one leg only. Once I get my pole set up (I'm still hoping to hold out till Saturday, but I might get the DVD out tonight, just so I can see how to put the pole up, and I don't have to spend half of my birthday figuring it out.) (Jeez that was long!), I will post some pics of each of these moves.

The other one, I'm still in the process of learning, and it's called the Cleopatra. It's basically a different way of getting upside down. Instead of standing next to the pole (like I usually do) you stanhd in front of it and flip up that way. I never thought I'd be able to do it because I'm not that flexible in the shoulders, but I was actually getting pretty close, and a lot closer than I ever thought I would! So that was my adventure for the night. I was so happy to do a (semi) acceptable Venus. I has really been p!ssing me off. But now I'm happy again. Yay!

What is not shmick though, is I am getting waxed tomorrow, and I think I'll have a few bruises on the inside of my legs, and that is going to cain! Very NOT SHMICK!!

I might go watch my DVD!

Love you all

Me, me, me

Still have some birthday blues (and it hasn't even arrived yet!). Am trying to organise bday activities. Isn't it funny how even though it's my birthday, I'm still trying to please everyone. Although, not really I suppose. I'm trying to please me, because if no one came then I'd be unhappy! But I have decided just to do it anyway. It's my birthday and I have the right to do whatever I want! (Within reason of course!)

I want to go back to HV Gardens coz I had so much fun there with mum. So I'm going to gather up the clan, the boy, and the best friend and take a trip up there. Most of the problem came from timing. We couldn't do it Thursday or Friday because some people wouldn't be able to go, but I'm worried if we go on the Sarurday that it will be too busy. Oh well, will leave that up to the Universe. I'm just going to go and enjoy myself, and have fun hitting golf balls into the lake!

Have got most of my Chrissy shopping done, I think. But next week sometime I'll probly remember someone I need to buy for. Isn't that always the way!

I am going to make a conscious effort to put more piccies on the blog. I've noticed I hardly ever do that, and I'm sure you've noticed too. Not sure what this will accomplish, but at least my blog will look more speccy!

Oh just for the record, by birthday is December 9, so this Saturday coming!

Anyways, catch you all later!

Feeling Better

Have decided what will be will be, and I am not going to worry about it, so I will be filling you in on a few things I've neglected to mention lately due to assorted mood dampeners.

First off, I have my very own pole! It is still sitting in its box in the living room though. I have decided I'm not going to open it until my birthday. I can just imagine spending half of my birthday trying to figure out how to put the damn thing up!

On Thursday, my brother and I took my mum, our exchange student and our aunt up to the Hunter Valley Gardens for my mums birthday. Thought I'd share a few of the photos with you all, then you can see where the "crazy gene" comes from!

Brother decided to take a family picture, but since we don't have a tripod, he stuck the camera in a tree. This was the result!

Livia solving one of my problems!

My mum, classic!

Typically Jade decides to show everyone up!

Liv and I had a go, but ours doesn't seem as impressive!

The obligatory pole dancing pic. They wanted me to climb it, but it didn't look very sturdy!

And me deciding to get athletic

Hope you enjoy!

Love Tesah

PS yes there will be many a pic coming up of me playing with my new friend!

Wow, am I down

I am having a massive downer today, and it's really quite strange as I haven't had one of these in quite a while. No matter how angry or upset I get, I always seem to bounce back. I haven't been in a really depressed mood for ages.

This time thought, it has to do with my birthday. Not the whole "quarter-life crisis" thing (I'm over that), but my birthday always seems to cause so much trouble. I never really have much of a party, because a lot of my friends live in Sydney, and it's just a pain for them to try to come up. This year seems to be no different. I had given up on the notion of trying to get friends up for a party, and was content just to spend some quality time with my family and close friends, but I seem to be having some trouble managing that as well. Despite that fact that it is a weekend, I had something planned for Friday night, have my bday on the Saturday, and lunch with a friend on the Sunday, but then I'm back to work on the Monday, and it just doesn't seem to be working out.
