General randomness

Was soooo looking forward to Beltane

Shame it was cancelled

Hope you feel better Mary-Raihn

Would love to volunteer for the Rose Cottage Association of Filler-Innerers

Why are toenails so disgusting? And why haven't I started painted them more often sooner? (sorry, Shann-speak for more regularly- I think)

Want to get my fingernails done too but never seem to get to the salon. Hey, maybe I should paint them myself! (Squeals with glee!)

Except just remembered when it comes to painting my right hand, using my left hand, I really suck

New exchange student is supernice, and starts every rumble in the house (usually audible 3 streets away(

Told Jade that we are not to tickle her feet anymore, as she screams blue murder and someone may actually think we are murdering her.

Not even thinking about Xmas presents. I think I'll be giving everyone gift vouchers. Or calenders, that will make Mary-Renata happy.

The boy is coming up tomorrow!

Hopefully this time when we go to Govinda's it will be open!

Cheese spread on toast is so yummy. Ditto Tim Tams

Not together of course

My list of unfinished craft projects is thus: (in order of needing to get done right now!): box for raffle, cranes for summer solstice, surprise for RC baby (assuming I can figure out how to get it done- I don't actually have a pattern for this!), a crocheted blanket for mum, and then all the stuff for me- namely another crocheted rug, a tapestry, and a bag.

Note how I put all the stuff for me at the end. I have come to the conclusion that you always get stuff for other people done quicker than stuff for yourself. This is because if it's for someone else, you usually need it for a specific date (eg bday or Xmas), but if it's for yourself, it's not the having, it's the doing.

Am very ashamed of craft rant.

I have done roughly 120 cranes out of 1000. Wish me luck!

Why hasn't my broadband been connected yet?

I really really want a pole. But I can't put it in until mum has finished laying the vinyl down. And I have no idea when that will be.

Got a massage organised today, and omg will I be feeling better afterwards!

Decided I need my own live in masseus. (Hope I spelt that right!)

Thought I had crimpers and wire cutters and pliers from my brief attempt at suncatchers. Have misplaced these but need to get more to finish off my Ostara (and soon to be Beltane) sabbat cords.

Have rambled way too much

Love you all!

Relay For Life

This weekend was quite eventful. Saturday was the Relay For Life. It was hosted at the Hunter Sports Centre and it was loads of fun. It was to raise money for the Cancer Council and what happens is you get people to sponsor you and then you walk laps around the running track. Our team was the Wacky Witches so I went dressed in my good witchy dress, the huge pentacle from our fluffy bunny night, my stripey socks and boots. I also had a borrowed cape and Sorting Hat (thanks Aleks!). Although I have just been through the photos from the weekend and have realised that I haven’t got a photo of me dressed up on there, and I’m not quite sure how I managed that!

Mum and I managed 13 laps each. I tried to make my laps a bit more interesting. I did part of one lap in bear walks (on hands and feet, with straight legs). Unfortunately that one was captured on the video camera and not my digital camera so I’m not quite sure how to get it onto the computer so that I can put it on the blog. And one of the other girls and I did a whole lap of dance steps.

At 7:30 all the lights went out and we had the Candlelight Ceremony, where people had bought candles and put them in paper bags all around the edge of the track, in memory of loved ones who had lost the battle with cancer. It really reminded me of the Japanese festival of Obon, which is similar to Halloween, in that it is the night that the Spirits return to this realm. For the whole week, the Spirits roam the earth, and at the end of the week, lanterns are floated down the river to guide them back to the spirit realm.

They also had a “Miss Relay” competition where the teams nominated one of the guys to dress up in drag. My brother was the sacrificial lamb for our team, and Friday night he sat in the armchair in the lounge room while myself and the exchange student waxed his legs. And considering she is from Brazil, she is rather inept when it comes to waxing! Anyways, Jade squeezed himself into one of my dresses, got himself some high heels and some boobs, and set off to collect some donations. The “woman” who collected the most donations was the winner. Jade won that one because Mum put in $150 herself, but considering he sat and got waxed for it without (too much) complaint, I think he deserved it!

The fit has hit the Shann

Lol I love saying that, it's so punny on so many levels! Anyway, guess who has be asked to come and fix the sh!t at work? Shann has. I was only supposed to be working Wednesdays for the first 2 weeks of term, then the other coach was coming back. However, after an incident with a buffalo (not I'm not kidding!) I was asked to take Wednesdays for the rest of the term. Now the first week of term I tried to get my original group back just so I could have a few weeks with them, but it was decided that I shouldn't and they's give me the "bad" group because the other coach would be coming back and couldn't object because she'd been away. Now I'm stuck with that group for the rest of th term. The kids aren't really that bad, but if I had known I'd be on for the rest of the term I'd have kept my old group.

Then I went to pole dancing class last night and was told that the class will be on Wednesday nights for next term. They were going to make the class 6:00 or 6:30 but I wouldn't have been able to make it so they've made it 7:30 so that I can go. So I'll be missing Rose Cottage for a few weeks, and hopefully it will only be a short term arrangement. It doesn't come into effect until after next week, so I'll still be making Beltane. Yay! So that's what's been going on with me lately.

Before I go, I would like to give a big shout out to Mary Michelle and Mary Kathleen for their wonderful donations to the Girls Night In raffle. Thanks girls!

Love you all

Mind Body Spirit Festival

If anyone is interested, the Mind Body Spirit Festival will be in Sydney Thursday Nov 16th to November 19th at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre

Thought for the day

I really should go and clean my room instead of blogging because I have somehow managed to misplace (I refuse to use the word "lost") my angel cards!

Been around

But not in blogland much these days. It's funny because I actually have only 3 regularly rostered shifts, but the Universe has been tossing a few more my way, for which I am very grateful.

I've done kindergym twice this week, and the little kids are so cute! I've done kindergym before but today I was made to do a warm up and a cool down (as a fill in, I don't usually have to do this) but I think I went ok.

As of this afternoon I have 3 yeses, a maybe, and one no for my Girls night in, so keep them coming! I'd love to get a yes from everyone, but even if you can't make it, please let me know!

New exchange student at my place, girl from Brazil, she's heaps nice. Showed her a few of the photos from www.engrish.com and she nearly killed herself laughing, this girl will laugh at anything. I'm really hoping Leeanne will be at the Girls Night In because I'd love to introduce these two and see if I can make them laugh. That would be the best entertainment for the evening!

I may or may not be going in a ballroom competition. There is talk of me entering such an event, but whether I actually do remains to be seen. If I do, photos and embarrassing stories will be forthcoming.

Well that's it from me for now, and I'll be seeing most of you this evening. Actually, you'll probably see me before you read this, but either way is good.

Love you all

I love Garfield!

Here's hoping I'm not breaking any copyright laws, but just for the record, this comic strip is the work and property of it's creator Jim Davis. You can find it and more at www.garfield.com

The world of Shann

... is very boring at the moment. Rose Cottage last night was very interesting, but unfortunately, I don't think I was in any state to fully appreciate it. I was just so out of it, and before I left work I had actually contemplated not going, for the first time, ever, I think. But go I did, and was glad of it because just seeing everyone there can give you a lift.

And another thing, if all you other Mary's are fluffy, does that make me "pointy"?

There's not much going on with me at the moment, I'm pretty much on here to fulfill my blogging duties, and so all the other Mary's don't call me sad for having a life.

And here are some randoms:

Why is caramel so yummy?

My dance partner rang me up on Tuesday night during Dancing With The Stars, just to ask me if I was watching the heel turns in the foxtrot. I don't mind the foxtrot, but I really suck (and therefore, hate) doing heel turns. It is not a natural movement for an ex-gymnast and ex-ballerina, who usually does turns on her toes. Plus I have never had a lesson in standard ballroom in my life. Anything that I have picked up in standard has just been a crash course- the operative word being "crash".

Dancing is a contact sport, football is a hitting sport.

You have to wonder why guys who get to dance with beautiful women are called gay, while men who go out and try to tackle other men are "real men".

Just wondering what everyone's Obsessive Compulsive thing is. We all have one, even if it's not a debilitating one. (ie washing your hands every 5 minutes). What thing are you obsessive compulsive about? It could be as simple as having to check the iron before you leave. Mine has to do with suede. All the pile has to lie flat, it can't be all messy. Hence why I will never be getting a suede lounge suite.

Going to pole class again tonight, and wondering what kind of acrobatics I will be getting up to.

Have to go finish watching buffy. It's on load from the library, it's due back tomorrow, and I'm only up to disc 3 of 6.

Love you all!

So cute!

One of the girls posted this video of her son having a play on the pole. Listen to the music- it's so cute!

Thought for the day

Why does my cat cry to come in, and then 5 minutes later, cry to go out again? And why is it such a great game for him to play?

Does absence make the heart grow fonder?

Do you guys miss me when I don't blog? I have to admit that I have been rather absent from Blog-land lately.

Back to work again this week- not that I ever really left, having nworked during the hols as well. Had my first day at Gymskools yesterday, and it went pretty well. Being first day back there was a bit of a shemozzle getting the kids and the classes organised, but it all worked out in the end. So I got up at 5:45am (and it is sooo unnatural!), drove to Singleton, then when I had finished at the school in Singleton I had to drive all the way back to newcastle, pick up my mum and then go to work at Glendale for the evening. Needless to say, I was cactus last night. back to work again tonight and I'll be working with the person who stole my Wednesday night shift off me. Well I guess she can't really steal it, seeing as it was hers to begin with, but I was getting quite comfy in her spot!

Looking at everyone else's blogs, I have to say I think mine is quite boring! of course I don't get on here as much as I would like, and when I do I never have anything to talk about. I think maybe I should start putting up some pretty pics and stuff. I'll have to see what I can manage.

I'm in the midst of getting broadband connected. It apparently won't come through for a few days yet (7-21 days they said) but in the meantime we have free dial-up access, so all is not lost.

On the weird and random side of things, I having some issues with my bed. I usually have a waterbed but a few weeks ago it got a leak and usually we'd just patch it, but mum decided that seeing as it was really old, we'd get a new bladder. So I've been sleeping in the spare room and taking advantage of having a double bed (it's amazing how much room I have to spread out in!) Well, we finally got the bladder organised and filled and ready to go. We plugged the heater back in and it was all good. Except that the bed is now waaaay to hot! It is on the lowest setting and I still had to sleep on top of the cover snad I was still sweating when I woke up! It is really annoying and I can't figure it out because it's never done anything like this before. Maybe this is the Universe's way of telling me I need a double bed. Mum also came up with the idea that I can have the spare room and we can make my room the spare room, but I like my room. It's painted the colour I want, all the furniture is how I like it, and it's my little space. It wouldn't be the same if I was in the other room. I've been in my room ever since we moved into this house. It's just not big enough to fit a double bed into.

Wow, did that turn into a rant or what? This blog is dangerous!

Lol, a funny thing occured to me the other day. I want to get a pole so I can practice at home. Now, when I get drunk, I like to start doing gymnastics stuff, and I can just imagine what would happen if I have a pole at home! I have already told my mother and my brother not to let me near a pole when I'm drunk because I will hurt myself!

Oh well I think that's about it for me. I am having a relaxing day (or as relaxing as I can) and working my way through Buffy Season 2 on DVD.

Love you all!

Once more with feeling!

Ok, going to try again with the link for the upside-down-on-the-pole. Don't try the old link coz I don't think it will work because I took off the original one then reloaded it. So here is the new link (hopefully!)

Descending angel

Let me know if it works/doesn't work

Some like it hot

Well usually I don't mind it when it's hot, but not when I have to work! Thank Goddess for Starbucks caramel frappacinos! It gets so hot in the gym- we have fans, and we open windows, but that's it. We have to resort to squirting the kids with a water bottle to cool them down! So my brain is fried again today, but at least we were inside today and not outside in the sun.

There may be a possibility of a pole at the girls night in, but we shall have to wait and see. I just realised that even if I do manage to get a pole I still need to sort out a routine! In the meantime, just thought I'd share this with everyone. And I assure you that if I ever do9 anything similar, it will be available for viewing.

That's it for me, and I'm going to have a very relaxing weekend because I have a big day on Monday. Ciao for now!

Short & Sweet

Feeling sunburnt and heat stroked- spent most of the day in the sun

New best friend Katie- went and got me Starbucks frappacino when I had to work

Can't type this evening- had to correct 3 already

Getting screwed over at work- it's all going down the toilet now

How very moody I was yesterday due to certain monthly problems

Wondering if I can actually get the pole to fit in Starbucks

Wondering if I dare wear the catsuit ( don't think it's going to happen though)

Just fixed my 6th typo

Think I'll quite while I'm ahead and while my head is still baked from today.

Love to all

More pole dancing

Well, finally, here are the latest videos of my pole dancing escapades, including the upside-down-on-the-pole one.

Upside-down-on-the-pole (the technical name is the "descending angel"!)

This one is called the black widow, and I have to apologize for the very (un)graceful getting-up-off-the-floor move.

This one is called the corkscrew and it's a very short vid( just 3 seconds) coz it's a really hard move to do and I'm not too good at it yet.

That's all I've got so far. One of the girls in my class still hasn't managed to get upside down on the pole by herself yet. She was so close last week and it was really frustrating her. I'm hoping she'll get it this week though.

Enjoy and please leave some comments and tell me what you think!

Girls Night In Update

Invites are coming out soon, and if you are one of those people who have pledged a gift for the raffle, could you please start getting those out to me when you can.

Update

Sorry if this is a bit confusing but that last post was written on Friday, and it is now Monday, so I thought I'd better fill you in on what's been happening.

I was down at the library using their super fast internet to upload my pole pics but you only get an hour each day so I had to get off and I didn't have time to upload the video that i really wanted to show everyone. So I'll be doing that tomorrow, and hopefully you guys can see it soon.

The boy came up from Sydney on the weekend which is why I didn't have time over the weekend to try to upload this stuff. We didn't actually get up to much because we ended up helping my mum and brother demolish the house. Well we didn't demolish the house per se, we renovated the spare room and the stairwell. We ripped up the carpet and laid down new carpet squares, which involved moving all the furniture into the loungeroom. After we laid the new carpet down, we had to move everything back, and we almost lost the screw out of the bed frame- but we found them, luckily.

We had a few false starts over the weekend, actually, there were more than a few. On Friday, Jade left his light on at work and had a flat battery, so we had to drive out and try to jump start it. We actually melted the jumper leads! So then we tried to clutch start it, but that didn't work. luckily there was a Super Cheap Auto just down the road so we went and got some new jumper leads and finially got that working. Then when we got home, Jade was stirring up the dog and it hit him in the nose! He was so lucky that it didn't break anything.

We managed to do the spare room in one afternoon, and the next day we started on the stairwell. We had a few problems with this on. We had to replace the support beam under the floor, because after 19 years of Jade and I both landing with a huge thud at the bottom, the support had actually cracked. Jade went to Bunnings to get the timber, but he got the timber 20cm short. So Jono and I had to go back out and get the correct size. Then our drill almost blew up, so we had to got back to Bunnings and get a drill (a corded one because if we got a cordless one we would have had to wait while it charged). Then the slats we got to replace the floor didn't quite fit into place, but that was easily fixed.

Got my roster for next term today, and I'm not too happy about it. Last term I was getting about 14 hrs a week, and now I'm down to 9. I lost one of the shifts that I really wanted, and I'm going to be working with a person that I'm not too fond of. The same people are getting all the shirfts, and when somethgin happens to them (if they get sick or go on holidays) I'm one of the people they call in to fix it. I have to work Mondays which means that I can't do belly dancing, so I have to figure out how I can keep going with that.

Anyway, enough of me bitching, I'm gonna go, and hopefully the next blog will be a bit more upbeat. And it will probably include pole pictures!
Love you all

What's Happening

This is actually from Friday, but I'm gonna leave it as is.

And yet again I have been up to a whole heap of nothing that takes up way too much time! Still trying to get my "Girls Night In" sorted, but I'm being a bit lazy. Hoping the Moon in Aries will be giving me a big kick in the backside soon! Trying to blog more regularly, seeing as people go to thr trouble of visiting my blog, but there is never anything new to see. All that is about to change right now, and you will be glad of the break, because it is once again time for pole pictures. Actually they are pole videos so I'm hoping that no more 13 year old boys will be getting their hands on them. But I suppose you can't really say no to the fans. I am currently sitting here in Wallsend library waiting for these videos to load so that I can link them here. I am at the library because they have superfast snazzy internet, while I am still in the dark ages of dial-up. So I'm trying to fill in some time and get some blogging done in the meantime. I am also trying to figure out why I can't get onto this forum. It just redirects me, and it's giving me the sh!ts. They must be updating or something.

I'll get back to the videos (once the damn things load!). Last night at the Cottage was wonderful, a much bigger group than last time. Brooms were named and consecrated (the naming highlights being "Franken-Muff" and "Whoosh"). The Rose of Avalon Cricle was also cleansed and consecrated, which unfortunately for me involved moonwater. We weren't even drinking it! It was just poured on our hands and it still got me. I think Lisa was quite astounded at the effect it had on me, even without ingesting it! I have to admit though, it wasn't as severe a reaction as I usually get!

We also got some silver bangles to commemorate the first ritual in the circle. I still haven't decided what to do with mine- whether I want to put them on my alter or if I want to wear them. And I still need to make an Ostara sabbat cord, hopefully before Beltane, or I'll be 2 cords behind. I'm really hoping this Aries energy is strong because all of my tasks that I want to get done are short term, but the problem is there are so many of them to do!

I can't believe it, this video has been uploading for 25 min already, and I still have 2 to go! Can't wait till we get broadband at home. I should do a survey and just see how many people still do have dial-up. Surely I'm one of the last people alive to be using it!

I'll put the pole photos up later. I'm still waiting for one to load.

More randomness

I tell you, working can really interfere in your social life, and it gives me less time to blog, something that was rather pointedly pointed out to me the other night. (But really, how else would you point something out, other than pointedly?)

Quite happy at the moment because I have not one, but two pole classes to go to tonight! yay! But I am going to be so sore tomorrow. Really need to see Carolyn and get my back fixed up. It is a sad state of affairs when you get up in the morning and you fell like a crone, but you are only 22.

I have been up to quite a lot lately, and it's the kind of "a lot" that doesn't include doing very much and isn't very interesting, but it takes up lots of time anyway. Well, I have been trying to get my "Girl's Night In" sorted out, and I am happy to say that it's coming along quite well. I have been working, of course, and I have also been trying to make 1000 paper cranes for my raffle. I've only done about 80 so far, but I think it's a good start. I do have something else in mind to donate to the raffle if I don't get them done in time.

Went to Rose Cottage and made a mess last night, and out of the mess appeared 13 besoms and 12 very straw covered witches. It was the shortest craft night we'd ever had (it not only finished on time, it actually finished early!), but I think we made up for it because it was also the messiest craft night we'd ever had.My besom is still on the back seat of my car where I put it last night so the glue didn't get everywhere. Besides, I think if I had brought it inside, the dog (or the cat) would have got hold of it. I swear, half the craft things I bring home end up being doggy chew toys. Then there was the memorable time when my cat chewed up my wax/crystal amulet. I was not happy with that, but at least the kitty had pretty white teeth. The dog also got hold of the St Brigit's Cross I made at Imbolc. Luckily I was able to save most of the raffia and all I haven to do is put it all back together.
