I'm early

Next weekend I will be turning 23, and this has me thinking about life, the universe, and everything, as you do. In 2 years I will be 25, so I figure I may as well start my quarter-life crisis now.

I spent 3 years doing a degree but have no immediate plans to do anything with it.

I am still living at home with my parents (in a single bed)

And recently I have begun to think about having kids. Not planning to have kids of course, but just the whole idea. And for some reason I'm worried that I might not be able to have kids. I can't think of a single reason why I couldn't, but it's there all the same. And along with that is, when would I have kids? In 2 years time I will be 25, 5 years after that I'm 30. I guess I'm falling into the trap of thinking my "young life" is coming to an end.

Anyway, not sure that this really accomplishes much, and most of you are probly just thinking "what the hell is this girl on?" but some opinions (or even just reassurance) would be great.

Pondering

Lisa's blog about the sister in all of us got me thinking. It can be wonderful to hear another's view of yourself. As women we tend to notice the positive of others, but usually only focus on the negative of ourselves. So I am proposing an ego-boosting post. I would like to tell each of you what I admire about you. It may be something physical, it may be something emotional/mental, or it may just be that I enjoy your company. If I forget someone, please let me know because I would love to tell you what it is that I love about you!

Lisa- you always seem so certain, and I love the way you mother everyone, regardless of age.

Renata- a very wacky sense of humour- melds perfectly with mine.

Deb- lol you come up with some cracking one-liners!

Leeanne- the most wicked laugh, and a fabulous dancer. (And I wish I had your boobs! (Just kidding!))

Jacqui-I love sharing a joke with you

Kathleen- so very, very wise

Helen- so much knowledge on so many topics

Michelle- the hair, oh my god, the hair!

Larry- what's not to love? Gives great hugs

Diana- always looking out for people

Jonathon- his obsession with heavy metal- absolutely adorable!

Carolyn- makes me laugh (and have a guess how!!)

I'm off to see a man about a pole

Sorry girls, but I think that one wins!

Had 2 pole classes last night (I had to make up a class that I had missed) so I got 2 hours of playing in. Am starting to work on some moves that make even me nervous. I'd put some photos up here, but I'm not too good just yet, so I generally prefer the person watching to be helping me and not pointing a camera at me waiting for me to fall on my ass (actually, I'd be falling on my head, but lets not quibble!)

Have started the very daunting task of trying to figure out what to get everyone for Christmas. Mum is generally pretty easy to buy for, but my brother and father are a nightmare. Plus we also have an exchange student to buy for. Usually I'd get her jewellery, but she's from Brazil and has already told us that it's very likely to get ripped off. Literally! And don't get me started on my best friend- she's actually worse than my father when it comes to Christmas presents, if you can believe that. Also need to find something for the boy. Gift vouchers are sounding pretty good right about now!

Unfortunately I have to admit I'm not much better to buy for. There isn't really anything that I desperately want (except a new laptop, but I can't see that popping up under the tree!)

At the Cottage

Just a shout out to Sioux Burns for a wonderful, and very profound evening at the cottage. I had heard so many wonderful things about her, and it was great being able to meet her at last.

And what's up today

Wish list:
Of course I would buy Mary Raihn a laptop, fly her to a private dinner with Jackson Browne in Rome (or maybe Paris-more romantic!).

I would buy many many wonderful drums from Sacred Drums and give them out to people.

I would go absolutely nuts buying crystals on ebay (of course I do that anyway, but I'm kind of constrained with regards to funds!)

Give everybody at the cottage a blank IOU that they could fill out for whatever they chose.

Whew! I am a busy Mary!

Feel free to appropriate the "wish list" idea Rylah. I'd love to see some of the things on your list. The complete boxed set of the X - Files perhaps? Oooh, or a cat playground for the kitties? (Sorry, this is your wish list and you can put anything you want on it!)

Last night was a shocker at work. Not only was it really really hot, but there was a bushfire somewhere and the wind was just blowing the smoke all over the place. We had to close all the windows to stop the smoke getting in, and the kids were worried they wouldn't be able to get home (bless them!).

Had a minor catastrophe with the computer this morning. (They seem to be going around, don't they?) I was told that I could unplug our ADSL modem and plug it inot the back of my laptop. So I yoiked the plug out of our desktop computer, and went to plug it into my laptop. The problem was, my laptop is so ancient (it actually has a floppy disk drive!) that there was no ethernet port on it! So I plugged it back into the other computer and tried to open a web page. No dice. I freaked out and rang the boy, who while trying to calm me down, was also trying to figure out what I had done to the poor computer. None of that worked so I rang Dodo, who told me they'd be able to get back to me within 24 hrs. So gave up on that and tried my brother's mate. We finally got it working, and I really should say here that what he suggested was also suggested by my honey, but I hadn't actually tried it. So, crisis averted and am now able to blog in peace.

Am really really thinking about getting a new laptop (preferably a Macbook) that I can actually access broadband with! Once our accountant gets his finger out, I should have a tax check coming (god knows when that will be though!), and depending how much it is, I might put some of it toward a pretty new laptop.

Girls Night In

Not sure if I remembered to post this, but we raised $262 all up at the girls night in! Yay!!

Shann's Wish List

What Shann would buy if she had the money:

A Macbook and an Airport (Apple’s wireless router) so that I could sit in my room and blog any time I want, without having to fight my brother for the computer. Plus I could watch TV at the same time!

A Corolla Ascent hatchback. I have a 1983 Corolla at the moment, and I love it to bits, so if I was to get a brand-spankin-new car, it would be this one.

A double bed with a squishy down doona. I really need a double bed. I like to spread out when I sleep, but that’s kind of hard in a single bed. And Jonathon has a really nice down doona that’s so nice to sleep under. I find my current doona really heavy.

My tattoo. I really want to get it, but I still need to get the design sorted out.

One of those huge amethyst geode things. (And yes, that is a technical term!)

A couple of holidays all over the world. Starting with South Africa, Brazil, and Rome. (And France, and America, and Canada, and…)

A guitar for my honey, and 2 tickets to an Iron Maiden concert in any city in the world he chose.

A couple of nice houses in countries all over the world.

(You see we’re really starting to get away from reality now!)

That's all I can think of for now, but I'm sure I'll come up with some more later!

And the saga continues

Ok, last time we chatted, we were up to the fabulous view from the Consul General's residence. From there we had drinks (where we were informed that the red and white wines that were being served were voted best wines in NSW).

We had a few speeches, then we had some nibblies. I decided that I couldn't have dinner with the Consul General and not get a photo, so here we are:

And if you look closely, you might be able to see the dress I am wearing, and yes it is the same one that my borther squeezed into for the Miss Relay event.

While I'm at it, here are a few photos of the residence:

So that's what happened on Friday night.

On Saturday the boy and I went to the Mind Body Spirit festival at Darling Harbour, and I spent waaay too much money! I did end up getting the outfit that I previously posted, so that's where a lot of the money went! Lol, ran into Dean at the Goji stand and got busted getting free samples!

And while I'm at it, I may as well fill in the rest of what has happened up till now.

Went to work on Monday at Singleton and was told to set up in the hall. Was then told (by a different person) that I couldn't set up there because they had to use the hall for practise, so I set up outside. After lunch., the first person came back and asked why I had set up outside! Grrrr!

Yesterday I was working from 12:30 til 7:00 in that heat. I don't think I've ever drunk so much water! Working again today, but at least it's not as hot!

Anyway, that's pretty much it for me. See you all tonight!
Love Tesah

Card for today

I think this pretty much sums up my personality. I absolutely adore animals, I've always had pets, and lots of them! You can see how each "furry family member" has their own little personality and idiosyncrasies. I just love having animals around me and I don't think i could stand being in a house without them.

Something to report!

Well, that makes a change, doesn't it! Friday I had an Inauguration Ceremony. I am a member of a society for returned Rotary exchange students who went to Japan. Friday night was the official launch. We had a reception at the residence of the Japanese Consul-General. Here are some of the pics:

This is the view from the Consul Generals residence. (And am letting everyone know that I have just been interrupted for the 3rd time while trying to write this blog!) It has taken me 2 days to get this far! So I think I may just post this bit, and the rest can be done when I have more time. (Now that will be going on my Xmas list. - "Dear Santa, please send me MORE TIME for Xmas. Love Shann")

Love you all, will finish up later!

About me

S- I am a small size
H- I have sat on a horse, but have never ridden one
A- When I fly overseas, I always drink apple juice
N- I don't bite/cut my nails, and they get really long.
N- My nan gave me a teddy when I was born, and it has never been washed.

Card For Today

I think this card is telling me that it's time for me to get my bum into gear. I have so many half finished projects to get done! Then again, I'm feeling a little like I need to get them done, so I'm not taking as much enjoyment from the process as I should. At the moment I'm folding paper cranes, so maybe I should do little bit of something else, just to have a break.

Latest News

Wednesday night was a blast. There was drumming, banging, and crashing galore, along with a few (actually, quite a lot) of gongs! (Credit to Renata!)

The drumming circles we did were absolutely amazing, and each one was unique in its feel. After we had finished, I could still feel the energy swirling all around the room. Jacqui and I were both alomst falling over. Of course, each of us was trying to lean on the other, so that might not have helped!

The random jamming that came afterwards was so infectious everybody was dancing, and I think they heard us all in Merewether! Got to meet some Marys in the flesh which was a treat, and people have still not forgotten my internet debut! On that note. last night I paid for my new pole and I should be getting it shortly. So once I get hold of it (which may be later rather than sooner if my mum wants to make it a Chrissie present), there will be a lot more photos and videos for everybody to laugh at and for teenage boys to send to their friends.

Pole class wasn't the best last night. It was loads of fun as always, but there was a beginners class in before us and when we went to get on the poles, they were so slippery! And no matter how much we wiped them down, we couldn't get any grip. So som of the tricks were a bit harder than usual. I haven't taken a photo of my latest trick yet, but when I do, I'll post it here. It involves hanging off the pole by only my legs! (Upside down too I might add!) So I'm sure everyone will be eager to see that one.

Am going to an Inauguration Ceremony tonight. I am part of an organisation for returned Rotary exchange students who went to Japan. So I have to get dressed all snazzy, and then find my way through Sydney. if I manage to take any photos, they too will be posted.

I really need to find some pics to put here. Everyone else has pretty photos on their blog. Of course the last time I posted things like that on my blog I got myself into a heap of trouble!

Am going to the Mind Body Spirit festival on Saturday. Am really sad to be missing out on the Angelic Raihn healing workshop, but I'm hoping there might be another one in the new year sometime. (Lisa, are you listening? Pretty please??)

Am hoping to get a pretty skirt I saw when I was there last year. My problem will be deciding what colour I want! But I like this one the best.

http://www.chrysalis-clothing.com/productdetail.aspx?id=2

But it's quite expensive, so maybe just the skirt!

Anyway, just waiting for the boy to finish his meeting, then I might go get some coffee.

Love you all

Gone over to the dark side

I have converted to Beta Blogger, and now have a snazzy new look for my blog. Let me know what you think!

Weekly Synopsis

Look at what this has come down to- one blog a week. It's a sad state of affairs. I blame work and my ridiculously slow dial up because broadband hasn't been connected yet because Dodo didn't check my account to see if the money was in it, so we were on dial up for 3 weeks when we thought they were getting broadband connected but they hadn't even started yet, and am not happy Shann.

Ok, here we go:
Monday- work at Singleton- couldn't use the hall because of art show and we all got stuck outside, and it was raining. Then back to Newie for more work.

Tuesday- work. A school from 1:15 to 3:30 then from 3:30 to 7:15

Wednesday- work

Thursday- down to the boy's for the weekend. Had to get the early train because otherwise it would have been nuses, and I hate buses.

Friday- well earned bumming around

Saturday- Shopping and coffee in Bowral, and found a fantastic shop- but it's bloody expensive!

Sunday- back to Newcastle. Got driven to Campbellton. Then train to Central, had coffee, then bus all the way from Central to Broadmedow.

Monday- Singleton again. Hall still out of action so I set up on the grass. Then it got windy and dusty, then it got wet and rainy. Then went home, had a shower, and back at work for 5pm to 7pm.

very brief I know, but everytime I try to get on the net and blog, the pages load so slowly. So brief it must be as I am again off to work in about 20 min and I still have to have lunch, and pack something to eat between classes!

Love you all (despite my very long periods of absence!)

The Very Busy Weekend, witten by Tesah B. Silly

Friday was very interesting. Took a wrong turn off trying to get to Moonan Flat and ended up taking the scenic route. It was so scenic I actually took one section of it 3 times. (I wanted to make sure I was on the right road!). The weather was dismal, it was very difficult to see anything, and I was driving my brother's car (there is njot one thing about that car that is comfortable!). Anyway, the kids were great. I did 2 lessons with them, and the second one was all about balances. I had the students pair up with someone who pretty much matched their height/weight. We had these 2 little kindy kids together, and they were soooo cute! They did a really great balance, and I asked them if they'd like to show everyone and they said yes, so after every balance they did, they wanted to show everyone the new one they had just worke don! They were soooo cute! Thenh, when the class was over, I told them all I'd love to see them again, and the little girl came up and asked me if she could call me, so I told her to ask her teacher and she'd call me, so this little girl went up to her teacher right then and there and asked her to call me! Like I said, very cute!

Girl's Night In was quite a success. I'd like to give a big shout out here to my mum who helped me get organised, and to Leeanne for such a wonderful dance. I don't know how much money we raised yet because I haven't counted it yet, but as soon as I know, I'll let you know.

Also a big shout out to all who came, you made the night absolutely wonderful, and of course, it couldn't havce happened without you!

I'm glad everyone enjoyed my chocolate cake (a la Naomi via Martha Stewart), and my impromptu pole dancing.

I am a little bit worried as during the belly dancing my next door neighbour told me she was going to the toilet and then we didn't see her for the rest of the night. Her car wasn't there went we got home either, so mum said she'd probly got called into work, but I don't know why she left without saying goodbye. I was seriously freaking out last night, thinking that something had happened to her, but the car was there this morning so she probably did get called into work. But I still want to know why she left without saying goodbye. Isn't it funny the things you can get hung up on? So I was also thinking that something might have been said to offend her, but I know all you girls, and can't imagine such a thing happening. I think my mind is just going berserk on me.

I was thinking that next year I might have next year's Girls Night In at my pole studio. And I'm going to take a blog poll. Who, out of the RC regulars do you think would be first to have a go? (And I don't count!) I'm going to say Renata.

Worked 8 hours today and did 5 birthday parties. And I think maybe the less said on that, the better!

Back up to Singleton tomorrow. Am soooo going to conk out on Tuesday. Just remembered the full moon circle tonight. Would love to go and share a slave, but I think I might just sit at home and veg.

Love you all!

Freaking Out

I am freaking out right now because I have to do a school tomorrow on my own for thje first time, and I have to find my way to Moonan Flats on my own, and I've lost my book of lesson plans and had to get another one, but I have no idea where I put the first one, and I need to find it.

Ok Shann, just breathe, is all good. Don't mind me, just freaking out. It's probly not as bad as I'm making out. So don't worry!

Pole classes are going all over the place. No class tonight (big bummer) and then maybe will still haveclasses on Thursdays, but I'm going to the boy's house next Thursday so I may have to miss that one too.

Getting Girls Night In organised. Have to go to Moonan Flat tomorrow, organise then have Girls Night In on Saturday, doing birthday parties on Sunday, and then back to Singleton again on Monday.

Seriously guys, I know I must sound really traumatised, but I'm all good. Just need to sit and breathe. Drinking less coffee might help too.

Love you all!
